Most people are already aware that UV tanning is not great for your skin. There are many other benefits of sunless tanning other than this!  Here are a few benefits you may not have thought of.

• It's a lot easier to stay tan year round!  Weather does not effect the outcome of your spray tan.  Even when the sun is hiding, you can have glowing skin! 
• Sunless tanning is faster than UV tanning.  You have to build up your UV tan and this can take weeks!  With spray tanning you can have beautiful bronze skin, almost instantly.
• Spray tans can help cover up freckles and blemishes. High quality spray tan solutions will really even out your skin tone. 
• Sunless tanning solutions often contain additional ingredients that help to moisturize your skin.  Many products also contain anti-aging ingredients!

Spray Tan Protective Wear

It is a great idea to have spray tanning protective wear available to both your spray tanning techs and clients.  We offer a variety of products great for spray tan safety.

Eye protection glasses, gloves, and disposable masks are great for all of you spray tan technicians.  They will help ensure spray tanning solution is not breathed in, or over sprayed into the eyes. DHA Smell?

We always hear horror stories about DHA spray tan solutions smelling horribly.  This smell is a natural reaction the DHA has with your skin.

Kahuna Bay products have a DHA neutralizer that dramatically lessens the scent reaction with your skin.  There is little to no smell at all!  Kahuna Bay spray tan solutions are also available in a variety of wonderful scents!

Remember Your Sunscreen!

Spray tan solution will not protect you from the sun so it is always important to wear your sunscreen!  SPF 15 is great for every day activity, but you should wear something with a higher SPF if you plan on spending a lot of time outdoors.

Waterproof sunscreen will actually help keep your spray tan in tact when you are swimming or hanging out at the beach. It takes about 1 oz, or one shot glass full of sunscreen to sufficiently cover and protect your entire body.

Spray Tan Solution Guidline

Sometimes it can be a little tricky to know what solutions to use. This is a simple guideline to help you choose which spray tan solutions work best with different skin tones.  SKIN TYPE COMMON PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS RECOMMENDED SPRAY TAN SOLUTIONS Type I Extremely sensitive to sun. Often light haired, fair skinned with freckles. Usually sunburns easily. Not likely to tan. ·          Original   Type II Very sensitive to sun. Often fair skinned and blue or light colored eyes. Usually sunburns easily. Able to achieve light tan. ·                 Original or Dark     Type III Sensitive to sun. Most Caucasians fit into this category. Sometimes sunburns. Achieves medium tan. ·          Dark       Type IV Moderately sensitive to sun. Often of Mediterranean, Hispanic or Asian descent. Sunburns a little. Usually tans well. ·                      Double Dark         *Booster Drops could be added to Darken Solution. ·         *Please remember, choosing a high DHA% thinking you will be darker does not always work. *Off color development (orange),rapid and uneven fading can result. Sunless Tanning Attire

You have many options on what to wear during your spray tanning session.  Many people choose to wear tube top bikinis, or thong underwear, while others go in the nude.  What you wear during is completely up to you and what you are comfortable with.  Your sunless tanning professional may also have disposable undergarments available for you to use.  Spray tan solution will not wash out of everything, but it tends to wash out of cottons and swimwear fairly easy. 

You should have loose fitting dark clothing to wear home from your spray tanning appointment.  Easy to wash cottons are best.  Avoid wearing jeans or any material that will excessively rub against your skin. You don't want to risk rubbing away your fresh spray tan!

Spray Tan Solution Storage Answers!

How do I store my spray tan solution?

-  Spray tan solution is actually really easy to store!  You want to keep your solutions in a cool, dry room out of direct light. This room should always be below 75°F.

Is there anything I need to do to my spray tan solution before spraying it?

- You should always blend your spray tan solution well.  You do not want to shake it as this could cause the sunless solution to bubble up.  Blend it as you would paint, holding the bottle in your hand rolling your wrist so the solution spins in the bottle. 

How long is spray tan solution good for?

-  Most standard spray tanning solutions have a shelf life of about 6 months.

My spray tan solution looks green?!

- This happens when a spray tanning solution goes bad or gets over heated.  The temporary bronzers become off colored.  Accidentally sprayed someone green?  Don't worry!  This color is just temporary and will wash off after showering.
