Spray Tan After Care

With proper after care, you can get at least 10 days out of your sunless tan! Caring for your spray tan is super easy, and actually will improve your skin. Here's a few steps on how to care for your sunless glow!

First of all, avoid chlorine pools.  Chlorine will strip your sunless tan, causing it to fade at a much more rapid pace.  Moisturize at least twice a day. Keeping your skin moisturized will cause it to stay more supple, thus causing your skin to slough off slower.  Using a moisturizer that contains DHA every other day will help to add a bit of color, keeping your spray tan even, and fresh looking. Avoid products with mineral oils, petroleum, and waxes.  These can actually dry out your skin, and fade your tan!

Using Booster Drops

You may have noticed that you have the option of adding booster drops to any spray tanning solution order.  What are they anyway?  Well booster drops contain a high concentration of DHA.  DHA is the ingredient in sunless tanning products that causes your skin to have the tan color.  When you add booster drops to your solution, you increase the level of DHA, creating a darker tan.

Booster drops are available in different size bottles and come in both bronze and clear.  You only have to add 5 drops per 2 oz of spray tanning solution to increase the DHA level 1%.  It's a great way to be able to customize your spray tanning solutions to your clients skin type!  Remember, adding too much DHA can cause off coloring rather than a darker natural looking tan.  Be sure to know your clients skin type before boosting the sunless tanning solution!

Keep Your HVLP Gun Clean!

It is sooo easy to keep your HVLP spray tanning equipment clean!  Keeping it clean will ensure your HVLP gun is spraying at its best.  If your gun is spitting, or your spray tans are turning out splotchy and uneven, chances are your equipment needs a good cleaning!  Here is how we recommend cleaning your sunless tanning equipment.

First take the solution cup off of your HVLP gun and rinse it out.  Fill that solution cup about half way with your favorite airbrush/HVLP cleaner.  Spray the cleaning solution through your gun into a sink or bathtub.  Again remove the solution cup, rinse it out, and fill with warm water.  Spray this water through your spray tanning gun to make sure all the cleaning solution has been rinsed away.  Once you have done this go ahead and empty the cup again.  Spray air though your HVLP gun to help dry out the inner workings of it.  Now your spray tanning equipment is clean and ready to go!
