So, what's all this hype about extraction fans and booths?  Do you really even need one?  Well if you are spraying more than a couple people a day I would definitely say yes.  If you spray in a pop up tent, an extraction floor fan fits nicely in the back of your tent.  If you have a room that you're spray tanning in, extraction booths work well and look super professional!

Extraction fans will greatly increase the air quality of the air you and your clients are breathing.  Extraction fans suck up the spray tanning solution that is left in the air and pull it into a filter.  No more spray tan techs with bronzer in their noses!  Having extraction fans will also help to keep your tent or room a lot cleaner. They will greatly reduce the amount of over sprayed solution on your tent sides or walls!

Spread the Word!

Just opened up your very own spray tanning business?!  Now.. how do you get people in the door?  That can be as simple as word of mouth advertising!  It's the simplest, most effective, and cost efficient way to get people talking about your business!

So you take a couple people you know, the kind of people that other people notice (Students, waitresses, bar tenders.. these sort of people in the public eye work well!), and you give them a fantastic, gorgeous spray tan at no cost to them.  You hand them a few flyers or business cards,  and when everyone is raving to them about how great their skin looks.. they hand them your card!  Another great way to get people into your spray tanning business is to offer free tans, or discounted tans when they refer friends!  One idea that works well is refer 5 friends, and get a free tan!  It really gets people motivated to bring others to you!

What is Spray Tanning?

What exactly is spray tanning anyway?  Well that answer is simple! Spray tan is an alternative to UV tanning, which will cause your skin to appear tan, without being exposed to UV rays!

A spray tanning tech applies spray tanning solution to your skin with an airbrush or HVLP spray tanning machine.  This solution contains DHA which is derived from plant sugars. DHA reacts with the outer, dead layer of your skin, causing the tanned appearance! Because the DHA only reacts with the dead skin, your tan will fade as your skin is naturally sloughed off!

Spray Tanning and Body Jewelry

It seems these days that everyone has something pierced!  Weather it be the ears, belly button, or other random body part. Can you still recieve a gorgeous professional spray tan while wearing body jewelry?

The answer is yes!  If you have a new piercing, it is advised you wait for it to heal before receiving a professional spray tan so you don't run any sort of risk for infection.  If the piecing is new, and you really can't wait to get that gorgeous glow, you can cover the piercing with a fun sticker so you have a cute tan line!  For piercings that are fully healed, you can definitely spray tan.  You do not need to remove the jewelry, but keep in mind that if you don't wear it all the time, you could have a tan line from where the jewelry was!
